Native Rulers:-

  • Shunga:-
    • Founder of Shunga was Pushyamitra Shunga.
    • Revived Orthodox Hinduism.
    • Performed 2 "Ashwamedha" yajna.
    • Agnimitra was the son of Pushyamitra Shunga.
    • Kalidas wrote the book Malvika Agnimitra in Gupta Period.
    • Architecture:-
      • Gateway Railing of Sanchi Stupa.
      • Bharhut Stupa (Only Broken Remains).
    • Last Ruler was BevaBhuti.
  • Kanva:-
    • Vasudeva was the founder of Kanva and Minister of DevaBhuti.

    • Satvanas was founded by Simuka, also known as Andhras.

  • The Sakas/Scthians:-
    • Important Ruler was Rudra-daman who fought against Satvahanas.
  • The Parthians/Pahalvas:-
    • Most Important Ruler was Gondopherne.
  • Kushanas:-
    • Important Ruler was Kanishka.
    • Entered from North Central Asia Near China.
    • Headless statue in Mathura.
    • Kanishka also known as 2nd Ashoka.
    • Conducted 4th Buddhist Council at Kasmir.
    • He started Saka Era (78 AD), also recognized by Govt of India.

    • Capital - Madurai
    • Emblem - Fish
    • Important Ruler - Nendu Jelliyan
    • Famous for Pearls
    • Sangam (Literature) was an assembly of Tamil Poets held under the patronage of Pandyan Kings.

      • 1st Assembly
        • Believed to be attended by Gods.
        • No Surviving Texts
        • Chairman : Agatarya/Aggutiyar (known as "Father of Tamil Literature")

        • Tolakappiyam written by Tolakappiyar.

        • Held in Madurai.
